This is the ‘go-to’ food of each and every Mauritian. This is because, it is very easy to find a ‘Dholl-Puri’ stall. Roaming around Mauritius you can find a stall at mostly every corner of the road. No matter where you go you should expect to find one. If you get hungry on your road and you don’t have much an idea of what to eat, you can just stop to buy you ‘Dholl-Puri’ without spending much money. A pair of ‘Dholl-Puri’ is very inexpensive as a lot of Mauritian housewives open a stall in-front of their house to get an income instead of nothing. But the most popular one is found in the central market which is found on theCapital of the island, Port Louis. Being a capital for sure people would have facilities such as KFC, McDonalds, Domino among many other food outlets. But the favourite of Mauritians, whether working in the capital on a daily basis or locals coming for shoppings in Port Louis, they mostly choose to enjoy an authentic experience of eating a pair of ‘Dholl-Puri’ in the market surrounded by other locals. Being a part of the island i should admit that ‘Dholl-Puri’ is also among one of my favourite food.
Especially the traditional curry that we get to eat during weddings. However we should cater about the spicy level and about how much we eat. Anyone visiting Mauritius should try ‘Dholl Puri’ at least one and am sure next time you would want more.
